Default Transfer case Question

Im gonna be doing a sye install on a 242 TC, and while iam in the TC should i replace the chain and shift fork pads? Whats your guys opinion on this. Also when the vechicle is in 2wd does the chain still rotate? Thanks

in 2wd the chain still rotate by the way of the front driveshaft.

By SYE for the 242, did u mean hack n tap or the one from Tom Woods?

Yes i mean the tom woods 242 kit where you replace the output shaft.
