Have a Rubicon adj trac bar, RE-1600. It needs a bushing, called quadratech, NOPE, we dont carry one for it, called 4wd-Parts, "you have to get the specific one from RE, but their closed and wont have anything avail till end of Aug/ Sept due to buy-out!!!!! WTF!!! I need my jeep in a week and a half, starting a new job, anyone have any suggestions??? Find it hard to believe that throu a buy-out, you cant purchase any remaining inventory! I call bull****!! I called their number that 4wd parts gave me and it goes int a voicemail!! :he lp:

 

Have a machine shop measure the outer diameter of where the bushing is pressed into and have one made from derlin (type of plastic). Never done it or seen it done, but it might work. http://www.google.com/aclk?sa=l&ai=C...htext%3Dderlin

 

I don't know about using delron.... I've machined the stuff and its not very durable and its prone to chunking

 

I assume that's the plastic our talking about..... black and looks like bushing material. Has kind of a hard rubbery feel. Works ok stationary bit when you put the kind of side loads and torsion a bushing might encounter I really wouldn't trust it to last.

 

if you get the diameter and width on the one you have you may be able to match up one from daystar,energy susp., or teraflex. there is anothe rpoly company out there but cant remember the name. diameter is most inportant if its a little wider you can trim down, same with sleeve. i had to do the same with some control arms and it worked fine.

 

well, took care of that, Rubicon called me, said they're trac bar for the xj uses a stock/aftermarket yj trac bar bushing...... Now i can stop my silent rage!!!!!! AAAAANNd, 4wd is gonna send it to me 2nd day air-no charge!!!!!!!! SWEEEEEEET

 

I relaced mine with a factory XJ bushing for about 5 bucks with a lifetime warranty. It fit like it was made for it and has been fine for several years.

mine is the older flat style and i have used a stock upper control arm bushing and just cut each side down a bit to fit them in. worked great for a few years.
i also made another out of uhmw, it's my spare.
