So I have see a few people say that an exo is not effective without an inner cage. What do you guys think on this?
I was thinking about starting an exo to protect the main structure in case of a flop.

An exo cage can be as effective if built correctly. I would at least run a diagnol tube in the b pillar. To add additional bracing to the b pillar your going to heave to run tubes through the cab which may interfere with your doors.

Im about to build my cage and have most of it planned out, but trying to work something out:my cousin built hinged door bars on his exo that open out like the stock doors. They work great but in my opinion they stick out too far when open. I was thinking of having mine rotate up and forward, and am wondering if there would be a down side to this over "normally opening" hinged door bars. I would be using 1.25" steel bar for the hinge point (fits well inside the 1.5" DOM Im using) and catching the rear of the bar in a J shaped landing with a sturdy latching mechanism.
Here is my T&J cage, I added a bunch of bars and changed the way it fit by rebending some bends.

Here is the front hoop tie in to the unibody rail, Plated with 3/16" plate.

The rear tie in.

The rear hoop lands on the rear shackle pocket so it is not bad for strength.

Another inside shot.
Rear belts (top) and front, go to the cage.

Work in progress.
