6.5" isn't too bad. More reasonable then the guys wanting to run 8" on 35s. You should be fine. You could probably lower your plan down to 5.5" but it would require more fender trimming.

6.5 on 35s is a pretty common setup. i wouldnt go any higher than that. going above 6.5 isnt going to make your jeep explode if you take it on the rocks like some people make it seem

hahaha. yeah im sitting around 5.5ish and i have been a little worried also. just haven't had the chance to take mine out yet. but i have the option of taking out a 1.75" coil spacer and shorter shackles if i need to. maybe lift yours in a similar way so you always have the option to go a little lower later down the road?
well actually the rig is already lifted 6.5 so I guess I can get some spring compressors to pull it down so it dosent explode. I just sold a Samurai with a 5.5 spring over and 31s so I shouldn't be worried about tipping over.

Spring compressors help in taking springs out and putting them back in...

You have to remember that lift heights dont translate from rig to rig. You have to go by belly and rain gutter. Also remember that COG per rig is different. The XJ will be alot more top heavy compared to the Sammi. But 5.5 on the Sammi? You shoulda cleared well over 31s.
