Default Is it too much work to put Infinity in my 98 Cherokee?

Got a 98 Cherokee Classic.
Radio is good... but I have an Infinity radio that would fit.
(Don't have the amp.)

Assuming I find an amp... is it too difficult to re-do the whole wiring harness?

I am assuming I can't use the harness that's in there.

Thanks.
Any tips will help.

It's a waste of time and money. Factory Infinity equipment is garbage. Go with mid-grade aftermarket equipment and you'll be much happier.

My Durango had the Infinity system in it. I dumped it for a Sony that cost me $150, IPod ready, USB ready, HD ready, Sat Radio ready. CD/CD-R/MP3. Sounds awesome.

I second the Blaupunkt. Bought their speakers one time for a good deal. Well turned out to be a great deal. They pounded. Super clear, very loud, and just a great product.

With all the time and wiring it will take to put that all in, you would be much better off putting in an aftermarket amp and headunit. They can be had rather inexpensively, and sound quality will be 10x better.

Thanks everybody.
I'm gonna bail on the Infinity idea.
An OEM look is not as important as good sound.
Plus, wiring a new harness seems a bit crazy.

And ... having USB ports and iPod inputs on a stereo is critically important to me now.

Thanks again.

I bought sound deadening and lined my doors with a lot of it. And my floor, and a layer on my ceiling. And my back hatch, and my a pillars, and behind my plastic trim paneling. Sounds so much quiter and the sound quality from the radio is way better
