Default TJ flairs on an XJ

I did a search and didn't find much of any info on this mod. I know it is a bolt on mod, and that some people don't like the way they look. I was not able to find out if putting TJ flairs on gives you more tire clearence then the stock flairs. My question is will TJ flairs let me fit bigger tires, or is my best option to cut my fenders and get some aftermarket flairs?

its not the flares that give you more room, its cutting the fender that gives you more room. same goes with bushwackers, you have to cut a bunch of fender, then put the flares on.

but yes, the TJ flares do stick out much farther than stock flares to give you better coverage.

keep stock fenders, but trim em up. its pretty straight forward on an xj. the tj flares look off, imho. something about the lines, you can just tell they dont belong...

x2 on the 4 front TJs. Looks like '97+ XJ flares, just wider, IMO. I don't see where it looks "off". (all pics taken t different times )

I did front and rear TJ flares. Some people don't like 'em and run all rears, but I think they look pretty good. I will admit though, the front TJ flares look better on the 97+ XJ's than the 84-96 XJ's.
