Tires and wheels stolen... what should I replace them with?
I have full coverage on my xj and on Saturday morning I walked out of my garage and found my xj on blocks. Someone stole the new Falken Wild Peaks with than 1000 miles on them and on black steelies.
I was thinking of replacing the wheels with some aluminum 17" wheels (or steelies) and not sure on the tires. I dont want to go bigger than the 33"'rs I had and its not a trailer queen so I do drive it from time to time on the street. The wild peaks were great for off road - climbing rocks and in the snow, but were loud at highway speeds as well as vibrated alot.
I would like to stay with an all terrain to minimize on vibration and sound, but would consider a baja or m/t.
Even though insurance will cover the cost, I dont want to go over board. Any ideas would be helpful.

makes sense if its in good condition and you have alot of money in it.
full coverage from statefarm with low deductibles runs me 69 dollars a month on my 97 that i have alot invested in. if it ever gets stolen or wrecked at my fault i just have to provide recepits for modifications.

Thieves these days have an assortment of wheel lock keys. They are easy to order on eBay and such.
Other than a proper alarm/immobilizer system, you can etch your wheels, bumpers, expensive lights, etc. with an ID number hidden somewhere.
That will help a lot if you see it pop up on CL and will help a lot local law enforcement... I've seen people make a mark with a welder that is hard to remove afterwards...

Id stay with 15s.. i have ran 15s, 16s (currently), and 17s..and teh look of a big rim makes the tire look smaller..plus they are more expensive..and you have less sidewall. I say go with some Mickey Thompson MTZs they are a mud terrain but they wear well and look great...perform even better... or km2s.

Way to go on the "Next time get wheel locks" comments. I'm sure he didn't think of that the moment he saw his XJ on block.......
