They don't appear to be very healthy.

The boots being toast is a bad thing, and even word at just a few months old.

If it wasn't made this way you could in theory set the truck up so it would not steer one direction.
ive never had my xj arm off but that makes sense. ive seen a zj arm that had been turned though. possible it was just deteriorated past the point of still having a key though

the passenger side TRE doesnt look very greasy

The passenger side one was pressured washed and cleaned with some degeaser recently. It had a lot of grease seaping on it like the drivers side did

Figure out what the cause is first. Otherwise it very well could continue to happen.

And if I'm not mistaken you.want that grease to stay inside that boot....for some obvious reasons.

Im trying to figure out the problem/solution...thats the point of my thread hahaha.

Yes the point is to keep the grease in the boot. they both were full...squshy/firm to the touch when I installed them. The boots busted...and the grease poured out on them both.

pull the TRE and rip it apart, post some pics so we can see what about it failed. If it was just that the boot cracked/ripped and then the TRE went bad because the grease was fouled with dirt and crap then you just gotta make sure the boot isnt going to rip. Possible the boot itself was binding on anything sharp? Or for whatever reason it could be binding and tearing?

Can you take the TREs back where you got them and get them replaced under warranty?Maybe the tolerances were off or something.I have seen lots of parts outta whack right out of the box.Other than something bent or loose causing them to prematurely fail thats all I can think of......

I dont know if the actual TRE has failed yet, but I did notice the boots were demolished. As for them being in a bind...I thought my angles looked bad and that was what put them in a bind.

Here are some factors that I just tought about:

Autozone TREs (got the most expensive ones I could)
When I trailed it since them being installed, I disconnected my sway bar. When I flexed it all the way out, could that have been a factor to them busting??

that shouldnt kill them in 4 months. there are tons and tons of cherokees on here running TREs and swaybar discos but not a lot of threads about TRE boots busting.

Over filling them with grease can make em start to leak and eventually bust and like Hooper said no way that flexing out should cause that and especially so soon.My 2 cents says something is bent, loose or you got some bogus TREs.Take em back, make sure they give you the right P/N and see what happens and keep looking for something bent and let us all know!I wanna see what you figure out in case I ever run into this!
