Just use stock air filters, better dirt trappers than a K&N. Yes read up about injector upgrades on the XJ's and you'll find out

www.strokedjeep.com has bored throttle bodies on an exchange basis for under $100. I've used 3 of his on my Renix Jeeps and he does a great job. No down time. Order one, install it, send the old one back.

DMAXX, when I was in school at UTI, we tested over 50 "gas saving" and over 300 "gains horsepower" things on a dyno. The only gas saver that might have done anything was the tire valve stem caps that show the pressure of the tire so you can keep them inflated. We did a simulated 10 mile drive through a city and 10 mile hwy on each device not one improved mileage. Two caught on fire though.

That's funny. I always though if you added every gas saving device from JC Whitney catalog on to your car, it would MAKE gas.

Well let's see here, if we measure fuel consumption from a marked container on a 20 mile drive, and also measure fuel flow, then it should be accurate.

I Rofled
I think if it did save any mileage, the TBS would pay for itself in about 100,000 miles. Fail if you ask me

Okay, I am not the only one that has had luck with a Throttle body spacer! Two of my buddies have had MPG gains with their TJs and the 4.0. Honestly I think it comes down to opinion. So how about we all quit crying like we are elementary school. If the deniers are so adamant that they are junk maybe they should go out and buy one and do the before and after dyno. It isn't gonna come out of my pocket just to prove a point on an online fourm!

I'm gonna get flamed for this, but someone needs to say it.

If you truly think that adding 1 inch (or whatever) under your throttle body is going to do ANYTHING to improve ANYTHING then you truly do not know how an engine works.
Especially a MULTI port fueled injection system that we use on our 4.0's.
Flame on!

Exactly the spacers are worthless and useless waste of money buy a bored throttle body for cheaper and really get some improvements

throttle body spacer does nothing, but it is pocket change cheap, so let the people who bought them be happy. The throttle body spacer isn't hurting performance either.

but an intake manifold spacer, or a aftermarket intake manifold with longer/straighter runners would make a real difference.

TBS threads ALWAYS turn out like this....if someones happy with their purchase let them be happy, it all comes down to opinion whether you think its worth it or not. If you do thats ok if not so be it but I dont see why everyone needs to always comment like they know exactly what its doin to someone elses jeep. Fact of the matter is you DONT know what it did to my jeep or anyone elses. Like I said it may or may not have added horsepower but I know for a fact it gave me 2 more mpg's, how else would I go from 14 mpg 4 tanks in a row to 16-16.5 mpg's over 6 tanks in a row now driving the same exact routes the same exact ways. So dont act like you know for a fact that they dont do anything. Or keep on doin it FOREVER like we all know this could go on for.
