I am thinking about changing the tube work on my bumper. Cutting off the end bars and cutting down the main hoop by 2" then welding up some new ends that come in flush with the top of the main tube . Or cutting off the ends. Lowering the main tube by 2" then adding a few plate gussets. See pics to get a better idea I'm really digging the plate gusset idea What are your thoughts ?

Yes the bumper is a little wide cause my original plan was to add a exocage

Why don't you do something like this?

I think your mods would make a better looking bumper. Headlights might perform a wee bit better too.

I like this idea, it kinda reminds me of a warn front bumper and ARB front bumper hybrid

wouldn't really consider that a prerunner style.. at all

I'd say this pic is your only option. it'll look goofy if you attach straight to the top of the hoop, and the bumper is too wide and bulky to remove the side hoops altogether. so I'd probably sell the bumper or just leave it alone

My bumper is an older one I bought used but I like it for the $40 I paid for it.

Not a option anymore. My YJ is more of the dedicated wheeler now. The XJ develops new creaks every time I wheel now. And the roof dented last time I took it out. I'm pretty sure the body is tweaked. I'll probably sell it in a couple years to fund a down payment on s tow rig

I like this idea as well. This is what I'm lookin for in my next bumper. The prerunner hoop plus the extra protection for the corners
