Hey all,
Was wondering what temperature difference i could expect to get if i installed hood vents? i was looking at the run cool vents on the web. i have already upgraded my cooling system with a 3 row rad, high flow water pump, high flow thermostat housing, and new fan clutch but it still gets a little hotter than i would like.

Cooling the engine bay should help prevent heat soak of the coil and other items. I've not done it, but it sounds like a good idea. I was thinking a raised center hood ala L88.

I diddnt do hood vents. I raised the back of the hood, then i basically "bowed" the rear of it. so the corners are flush but the center of the hood is 1" away from the cowl. what I can tell you is driving down the road, with nothing else different it stays 5 degrees cooler. on the trail it does seem to run cooler, well, the fan doesnt come on as much anyway.
I would imagine it would be better with vents. But it did make a nice difference.

Just place some washers under the hinges and use longer screws.
Your engine will not run colder, but your engine bay will. Also the engine cools a little faster down after you switch it off. This keeps all plastic parts longer alive and even help you to get cooler air to the airfilter if you don't have an snorkle.

I'll get some pics today. I don't like how it looked just spaced up, when I bowed the.hood it brought the corners back down so it was even from the side, I think it looks a lot better
