Since I've already done all the shopping, I'll break it down for you. I went with the Adams kit, with an Advanced Adapters SYE and a full Spicer drive shaft with sealed u-joints for $470. Tom Woods ends up around $530 with his own u-joints. You can get a good SYE for $200-250, and a decent HnT for around $100. Unless you're doing a HnT with a custom drive shaft, it's cheapest to buy the drive shaft and SYE from the same shop since they substantially mark down prices for a kit.

A double cardan CV rear driveshaft is what you will need. I went with a Iron Rock Offroad Hack n Tap since I have a NP242 transfer case and that was the best option. Then I chose a custom Adams driveshaft because they are good people with a great product at a fair price.

Yes you can, but it's far better to run an actual SYE that replaces the output shaft completely

I am also looking at getting a hack n tap for my 00' XJ that I recently lifted 3.5". It has an NP242 transfer case. What is the benefit of buying a custom driveshaft after doing the hack n tap? I heard people saying that you can run a front driveshaft in the rear after doing the hack n tap, also what would be the reason for someone changing to a custom after running the front shaft? other than buying a custom driveshaft are there any other viable options for building a shaft that would work? Thanks for the help

[QUOTE=ss427ci;3058832] 4. Gives you the option to remove a broken rear shaft on the trail and drive home without spilling transfer case fluid everywhere. Or even better, a single spare can be used on the front or rear.
I was waiting for someone to say this. SYE is at the top of my to do list!
