I have a 96XJ, AW4 trans np231 TC. I have a RC 3" lift on it and I'm ready to do 1" spacers and 1.5" shackles. But I can't figure out how to address the driveline issues. SYE from RC seeing as they are $199 but what do I do with the rear driveshaft? Can I use a stock front DS from another jeep like my Front one? I can buy CV from RC for $299 also, a bit pricey which leads me to the Front DS. Then I know some people need to shim along with the SYE and DS? I don't wheel very often but I like to take the time save the money and do the job right. (kinda) so I think a TC drop is out of the question even tho people use those all the time. But im not losing an 1" of clearing after I JUST Lifted it. so any Advice?

From what I've heard they take good abuse and its easy keep 1 driveshaft in case either brakes. Plus I don't wheel muh but would like to have the option to do so. But will it fit I've heard ppl don't even get them lengthend or balanced amd do fine also

i use a front lengthen ds too and hammer the rocks with no probs locked front and rear. but you could have the front shaft refitted with a bigger slip spline if it ever broke.

So I buy the SYE from RC and the DS from the JY and get it lengthened and balanced after measuring from the center of the U joints cap from the output shaft to the axles yoke center of the u joint cap and that's how long i need it? What about shims?

yes center to center. Your ds company will know how long to make it if its at ride height. as for the shims for the rear diff rule goes: 1 deg for every inch of lift then subtract the shackle lift . thats the shim deg you need.

yep just get a 2 deg. you dont want the diff to point higher then the trans , lower is better remember when torque is applied the the drive shaft the diff rotates alittle

A list of all possible front drive shaft lengths
http://www.myjeepxj.com/useful-infor...aft-infomation
I'm running 6.5 inches of lift with a 96-98 grand cherokee front shaft exactly how I pulled it at pull-a-part that cost me $13.06 (I bought two at that price) I hammered on mine quite a bit this past weekend on the trails
hope this helps
