Default SYE Conversion issue

Hey everyone, just reaching out for a little bit of help or knowledge with my 2001 Cherokee with a 231j tc. A little while back I got an advanced adapters sye kit to swap in my transfer case. I went ahead and ordered a rebuild kit for it off of amazon with a new chain, pump, shift range fork slides, and all new bearings and seals. I didn't have any issues replacing anything ,but when I went to put the back half together and tighten the bolts, the 4wd range lever would not move. Upon opening it up again several times and checking EVERYTHING, (I even had a spare t stock t case to open up on the bench next to it and compare clearances) I noticed on the planetary side or front input side, that there was over an 1/8" difference in depth on how the shift range fork gear fit over the drive sprocket. Looked as though the shift range fork gear should have been sitting approximately 3/16" higher on the drive socket to allow it to free spin in neutral. Has anyone ever had this issue? Thanks for any support!

You might need to change the collar around. I have done this too

I will flip the collar and try and see if this solves it. Thanks and I appreciate the reply!

Additionally, It's been a while but the transfer case lever needs to be in a certain position when you put it back together.. If not it does what you described....

I will have some time this weekend and verify what you and the other member suggested. Thanks for the suggestions and I'm hoping that this works and it's something I just over looked!

I'm curious about this. I put in advance adapters SYE and didnt seem to have an issue with re-assembly. Not because I knew exactly what I was doing, but maybe I got lucky putting it back together? But I didnt do a rebuild with new parts while I was in there.... maybe new parts are different sizes... ???
