hey there. im pretty new here.

i have read tons on the sye and using the front drive shaft.

my question is with the rugged ridge sye kit and a 4 to 4.5 lift work with the stock front drive shaft?

or any sye kit (not hack and tap) with a 4 to 4.5 lift work with stock front shaft?

To answer both of you. Yes, you can use a front drive shaft for the rear with a SYE and 4-5 inch lift.

I've been doing this for a long time. It's works great and is a lot less expensive than having a custom drive shaft made.

Word of advise. Go through the drive shaft and replace any u joints that seem either tight or have any slop in them.

Can it be a front driveshaft from a manual or auto?

Search it. This topic had been covered a lot. To go google and search sye and xj front drive shaft. If the ds is still to short then can use one out of a specific zj they about 3"-4" longer than the xj ones.

Did the search, says the same thing some too short while others are too long, just have to get one and have it made to fit. Thanks!

If you get the right one it should work up to a 5.5" lift

I believe its the auto one is the one you want because the manual tranny is shorter so it makes the front drive shaft smaller the auto is longer so the front drive shaft will be longer
