Default switching from a 242 T case to a 231 question!

So i am starting to have issues with my 242 T case, and I'm thinking of switching to a 231.

My question is, will the slip yoke eliminator kit, or the main out put shaft from the 242 fit into a 231 T case?

I have looked on numerous Webb sites like Advanced Adapters that sell these kits too see if the slip yoke eliminator kit for a 242 is the same part # as the 231, but they don't even list a kit for the 242, just the 231, i know it exist for the 242, my 242 already has this kit.

Thanks for any info!

Well, i whent about this another way, i looked up a stock part # for a 242 output shaft, and a stock part # for 231 output shaft, and i came up with 2 different part #'s, so i guess i can safely say my slip yoke eliminator kit from my 242 will not work in a 231!!

So since i will not be spending another 300 dollars for another kit for the 231 T case, I will just stick with my 242!!!!

But i will call Advanced Adapters Tuesday to make 100% sure

There is no tail shaft replacement SYE for the 242. Only a hack and tap. You could pull that off your 242 and hack and tap the 231 and reuse the parts.

So what is hacked and tapped? Are you cutting down the tailshaft and re drilling the end for the bolt to hold the ouput shaft?

I was wonder why the grade 8 bolt holding the output flange to the main shaft was so fricking small, i know they usually have a hug nut that goes over the shaft that is threaded

So it sounds like the guy who had the Cherokee before me hacked and tapped the 242 case?
