so I blew the engine in my 91 cherokee 4x4. and I picked up an 89 cherokee 2x4. I was going to just swap the motor but the 89 is mint (I mean mint ) I want to swap the 4x4 setup from the 91 to the 89. Can it be done and could someone give me some possible step by step? I would be greatful.

i believe the 4x4 can be swapped but the engine can not be...

All you really need to do to swap in the 4x4 is the tranny/transfer case combo and the front axle. I personally think its easier than a motor swap.

I did a 4x4 swap, Its pretty easy and everything bolts on. You basically have to swap over the trans, tcase, tcase linkage, front axle, rear axle if its different ratio than the front, and the driveshafts. If they are auto's you are gonna have to swap the wiring harness over for the trans computer and while your at it might as well do the rest of the wiring. HO is where its at lol

btw you can swap a renix motor into a HO engine bay, but just the block and head. It also wouldnt really be a HO at that point.
