Tuneup + Shock questions
Okay so, as some of you may know, I recently bought a 94 XJ Country, with a 3" lift.
I plan on doing a full tuneup: Plugs, plug wires, cleaning the K&N cold air intake, rotors, brakes (brakes pedal goes pretty much to the floor before getting pressure), oil, oil filter, going to attempt to replace the fluids in the tranny, though I've never bled one before, going to try and check the timing chain....
Are there specific parts that you guys use, that are proven to complement the 4.0 well? Same with rotors, anything specific I should be getting? Brakes etc... ?
As far as the shocks go, they're Procomp es3000's, and the rubber bushings are basically ruined, so I'm going to attempt to replace those as well.
Am I leaving anything out here guys? Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Edit: Also, the engine cranks 3 times quickly before actually turning over, is this something to be concerned about? 4.0L I6 - 220k on the clock.

hate to sound like the di** but I recommend searching and reading, you'll see what alot of the consensus is for each components you plan to tune up, the only other things I didn't see listed was the radiator and transfer case, change those fluids as well and see the condition of those. make sure the radiator fluid is alright, if not give it a good good flush, also check the transfer for shaving and such and how the fluid looks. normally you can look through the lower drain hole and see the condition of the chain
the cranking is fine, nothing to worry. now if it was lonk cranks or 5 cranks or more then I'd be sorta worried lol

I use Valvoline fluids for everything, but that's mostly personal preference. For brake rotors, just get the cheap ones. For brake pads, I usually get ceramic pads. Don't waste your money on a K&N filter, get a NAPA Gold stock filter. The general consensus is that Bilstein shocks are the best. Hope this helps.

I'd watch out when buying cheap rotors. The cheapies seem to be getting bad for being warped out of the box and requiring a light turn prior to installing. Everything else is a personal preference.

Well the cheap rotors I get are from from carquest, which I think is a little better than the cheapest pepboys. But to each his own.
