Super 40 vs. Super 44

Your right, you will need an small extension pipe. I think the pipe I used was like 8 or so inches long, I can't remember.

Hmm, okay so first I was told the 44 was louder, now I'm being told the 40 is louder.....I'm confused, can someone give me 100% clarification. And are you sure the super 10 won't sound too loud on the 4.0L? (Legal issues, not residential issues. My neighbors and the people in my town can care less)
One thing that I just thought of, the flowmasters are supposed to increase acceleration and MPG. Is this true with the 44, 40, and 10?

Any exhaust that is less restrictive than stock will give you a little more power, but for the most part there will be almost no gain unless you get new headers and make sure everything is bigger.
Also, atleast for a while don't worry about mpg gains because you will be too busy putting your foot to the floor listening to the new sound.

I don't have any first had experience but I can't imagine the one being that much louder than the other, especially it it really is a .5" difference in the case size. Just go with whichever you find the best deal on and I'm sure you wont regret either.

I went with the 44 because it really didn't matter to me. but fyi there is a 1" diff in the casing height. I decided to go with the 44 because i barley could hear the difference. so the decision is yours.

Ive had just about all of them over the years. I now use an original (not super) 40 two chamber with 2.5" tailpipe (the loudest and deepest) . Second would be the 44 then the big block 50 series. IMO just my experience. I highly reccomend upgrading the tail pipe to 2.5" mandrel bent, adds a nice deep tone.

My Super 40 has a really deep tone, with pulses, not just a drone. It's pretty loud for a dude my age (50+) but I stole it from my teenage son, and I like it.
Some of the glasspacks I've heard on other Jeeps were much higher-pitched and sounded like rice-burners.

OK guys, it's been awhile since I've been on this thread. Christmas is in a week and I've decided to get the muffler as a gift. So the muffler I went with was the Super 44. The Super 10 was nice and loud, and I would like to get it...but when that time comes I would like a 2.5" exhaust line. So it came down between the Super 40 and Super 44, I found two guys in my area that actually have a Super 40 and Super 44 on their Jeeps (one a GC the other a an LJ, but they have the same motors) and I just liked the 44 better.....So we will find out in a week if I get it and how much I actually like it
