Default Steering upgrade

Hi I have a 99 xj with a 5.5 inch IRO lift with a adj. Trackbar and drop bracket. I wanted to upgrade the steering, but I didn't want spend the money on a currie kit and I was thinking about doing a zj steering upgrade. What tie rod ends should I get that are stronger? What pitman arm should I use the zj or xj one?

You will want to find a tierod out of a ZJ with a V8. It will bolt right in and be stronger than your stock XJ tie rod. The XJ and ZJ use the same draglink for all models. You can also go to goferit.com and get an insert to flip the driver side of your tierod to get it up and out of the way. I'm not sure about the pitman arm, but I think the ZJ one might be longer. The only problem is if you drop the pitman arm down further you will also want to get a new trackbar bracket that drops down further.

The currie set up is ok, but for best bang for your buck with something you won't regret is Genuine Bullet Proof.

Wow I could and have built that first one for less than $150 and they sell it for almost 400.

Because not everyone has access to the tools necessary to drill and tap such heavy duty tubing. You could probably build a rear bumper with tire carrier for $200 also.....but no one sells one for even close to that.

You can also get weld in bungs if you don't want to tap it and they sell for 5 bucks a piece.

Yeah I just did a Heim setup on my jeep build. Not including tubing.. I am into it 180.. with weld in bungs, and a 3/4 drill bit to drill out holes.
