Spend the 35 bucks towards a full alignment at a shop on top of the other things you have listed and you will be good. Build it how you want to build it, like you said. We have given you our opinion (all we can do), and its up to you if you want to waste the 35 bucks on a steering dampner.

A word of friendly advice, don't take offense to others opinions. There are a lot of guys on this forum that have a lot more experience than both you and I. It's way too easy to start throwing money into unnecessary parts, sure $35 isn't crap, but $35 here, $45 there, another $80 here replacing unnecessary parts adds up fast.

Don't be afraid to ask for help, but don't get butthurt if you get answers you weren't expecting.

Here is a link to a bracket for $29 that will drop your stock track bar with a 3" lift. This and tie rod ends and you will be happy, happy, happy.

Amazon.com: Jeep XJ Cherokee Front Track Bar Bracket 1984-2001: Automotive Amazon.com: Jeep XJ Cherokee Front Track Bar Bracket 1984-2001: Automotive

There will always be that guy that will tell you "adjustable track bar or take your ball and go home" but I bought my XJ 5 years ago and installed a Pro Comp 3" low budget lift that came with this bracket. It has been on there for 5 years, I have driven it all over including from Oklahoma to California and I have never had a problem.

Now I went 4wheeling once in Big Bear and within a couple months already replaced the lift and a bunch of other stuff but that is another story. For what you want this is fine.

rough country used to sell a similar bracket. there is a reason they don't sell it anymore.

it puts way too much stress on the stock bracket, ive seen them crack the stock bracket on a couple occasions.

Ok I was just reading on some on these comments but running no steering stabilizer is a bad I dea. A steering stabilizer does exactly what it's called...... "It stabilizes your steering" at a all speeds. Anything in a 4 link straight axel set up can cause shake or a common known thing as "death wobble" please what ever you do, replace the steering stabilizer either with stock OEM or BDS makes a good one witch comes with a warrantee. For any one thinking its ok to run with out a steering stabilizer go down the free way at 65 mph and make sure you have a tow truck on hand

actually, plenty of people have driven without stabilizers. im pretty sure ktmracer drove cross country without one. when i took out my steering i found out mine was completely shot. guess what? i ran it for a whole year that way, and drove it on the freeway at 75 mph.

you do realize that not all 4x4s come with steering stabilizers stock right?

You want me to take video of my jeep doing 65 over river rock and desert or 90 on pavement, all without a steering "stabilizer" (or really the actual name, dampner)

I'm not tryin to argue at all but why would Chrysler put them there. Everything is out on a vehicle for a reason. ?

I just don't see how adding a steering stabilizer will hurt it. But okay thanks
