Steering Box Spacer Drawing?
Good morning everyone,
Hope everyone had a great Easter holiday. Over the weekend I was trying to install a front bumper that I just finished making and ran into the dreaded snapped steering box bolt issue. Fortunately I only broke one bolt, but I still need to get the issue resolved.
I do have access to a mill on a daily basis so I should be able to cut out a new steel spacer pretty easily. I was wondering if anyone has a good drawing of the bolt hole layout? I was told that the overall thickness of the spacer is about 0.680" and I've found several bumper mount drawings online, but in the past I've found them to be relatively inaccurate.
If anyone can push me in the right direction on this one I would really appreciate it! (99 Cherokee Sport)
Ps. I may resort to pulling the stock spacer out of the truck so I can measure it, but right now I have the box secured with 2 bolts and it allows me to at least drive it short distances.

I made one a long time ago for my 87. (I'm not sure if the 99 will be the same) I have Solidworks models and some drawings. You are welcome to them as long as you release me from any liability. =P
Here's some pics of what I did.

The unibody "frame" is sandwiched with two pieces of steel. I think they are either 1/4" or 5/16" thick. The box is spaced out with aluminum spacers. The height of the spacers equals the OEM spacer thickness minus the thickness of the plate steel used. Grade 8 bolts hold everything together. PM me if you want the files.
Disclaimer: It was a long time ago, so don't blame me if the design needs tweaking to fit. I just don't remember how I did it exactly.

Alright,
So everything is back up and running
What I ended up doing was pulling out the broken steering spacer and tracing it onto a plate of metal and then hogging out the center with an endmill.
So now the bumper is on and the jeep is running again, time to get this winch installed!
