I have a 1997 Cherokee XJ
My pitman arm broke and I can’t find one that fits. I have a 98 Durango steering box and a metal cloak 3.5 lift. Can anyone help me find the one that fits. I actually bought 4 and none of them worked. Thank you for your time.

That is a standard Saginaw tapered spline. So are you referring to the drop, or the bend in the arm. There are lots available from flat to 6" drop

I bought a few pitman arms and they do not hook up with the steering box or the Tie rod
Would you know of an exact part number

I’m referring to the actual clear holes that hook up to the steering box and that other hole that hooks up to tie rod.

As far as tapers go, there are three sizes. The D30, 44 and 60 taper. IIRC they are all 7° tapers. If you have to you can get tapered sleeves and drill the holes out straight for the tapers. The splined end however has to be the right size

Sorry one side of the tapered hole is 3/4 the the other side is like 5/8 to 11/16 due to it being used. I measured my broken one. Can you tell me a specific brand. I would appreciate it

That sounds like the Dana 60 size, yes much too large for you. Here is one that fits a stock Cherokee.

Amazon Amazon

There are others that have more drop to them. You want the tie rod ball joint to be the same height as the drag link on the frame end

I just checked it out I actually bought one I might have to drill the tapered hole out because it’s to small. Would there be and slop or play in it do to it’s a tapered hole?

Not supposed to be any slop. They have to be tight

Just what is it you are trying to do. And the answer is no you can't just drill it unless you are using heim joints. You need to send us some pics of what you have and what you are trying to do

Ok I’ll send pictures. All I’m trying to do is buy a new Pitman arm because my old one broke I do not know which one to buy I will upload pictures of the Pitman arm that broke. I have a Durango steering box the actual XJ Pitman arm does not fit. I did not install the Durango steering box the previous owner did it and I can’t get in contact with him.

Pitman arm The hole for the tie rod is 5/8 to 3/4
