Default squealing noise.!!!!

This terrible squealing noise coming from under the hood. I had the mechanic look at it and he said it was the ac compressor.it only does it at start up or sometimes when the defroster or ac in on. I was thinking maybe the belt or alternator. What you guys think? i can get a video up if necessary.

Mine does that, too. I think the bearings on the ac compressor are going out. It only lasts for a minute and the ac works great, so I think I'm just going to put up with it.

That's it. I can't pit up with it. I think I'm going to have to replace it.

I just powerwashed my 2000 engine and thought it would actually make things worse by knocking out any grease or oil in the serpbelt system (bearing etc.). Usually days when its just wet outside like a very dewy morn not real wet rain type my jeep would squeel like a pig til she got warm.
Since the wash every start has been silent.

Right after the wash it was squeely but once dry she was fine and a day like today in NY with it just being wet out she is still fine.

Its time to change my belt again and I bought a goodyear-gatorback which is one of the newer supposed better compounds. I see that Dayco also makes one with the new poly one also.

I used to get a squeal like that too, double check your belt tension, mine seemed tight enough but needed a bit more tension. Havnt had it squeal upon using the ac since.
