I wouldn't recommend a spartan, mine lasted 3 rides and also wouldn't lock a 35 unless you're running stock tires and baby it.

I have two and and they are both still fine. I've had them about two years now. I'm running 35s so I'd recommend a spartan. :P

I agree about the d35 though.

I have had a Spartan in my 8.25 for a couple years now, ride ithard with no problems to speak of. D35 is a little suspect and I would considerchanging that for more than one reason, maybe try and get a 27/29 spline 8.25before you spend the money on a locker. Having a rear ratcheting locking in adaily is a little annoying, mine is not a daily and I’m glad haha, it’s also a5 speed so they react a little different than the autos. They may “unload”around corners and give a loud bang, but I think this is pretty normal alongwith the tire chirping. I just try to let off or apply little power aroundsharp corners on the pavement. As far as the front locker, you won’t even know it’sthere on the street as they don’t engage unless power is applied, you wouldhave to be in 4WD. So the front locker is neither here nor there, know what I mean.I will be adding a front locker to my D30 on 33’s and I am not too worriedabout it, just be smart.

I have a spartan in the back 8.25 . It's been there for 2 years and I've had 33s and now 35s and it's fine. Also about the d35 I have a friend who has 35s on his welded d35 and he drives it hard.

Mine works fine in my 8.25. It's held up to lots of abuse on 33's and now 35's for about 2 years

As for locking a d35. Just pick up a 8.25

weird. what axle did you put it in and how long ago? if I ever had to go lunchboxes again it would definitely be spartan for the hardened crosspin

OP. hell, asking questions on the internet is a crap shot. you're just going to have to order some stuff, install some stuff, break some stuff, and try again
research how a ratcheting locker operates and how it handles on the street (hundreds of threads on google about it) and that should be ample information to weigh against the other options before your decision.

blanket question thread = fail

Put it in a few years back and it's now welded, didn't have any spiders. It's in a high pinion D44 and I was running 35s at the time. Driver side would lock but passenger side just clicked. Pulled it and reversed it and same thing. If you search you'll see this is actually a fairly common problem. They only have a year warranty and since I don't get out often and had it a few months before I installed it my warranty was up with only 3 rides, and that's offroad only.

Good luck with the ford LSD. Unless you over pack it so it acts more like a spool they are about like an open diff offroad.
