Default spartan locker install

as per instructions, you are to discard the factory shims when you install the spartan lunch box locker. but people who have had these lockers fail claim it to be because they did not use the shims. now i am concerned and do not know what to to. any input or opinions on this?

U do not reuse ANY original parts. Only a bare open carrier. Instructions say to discard all original parts...

It won't fit in the carrier with the shims. Wish I'd had luck out of mine but lockers don't seem to like me anyway. Mine is now a welded up Spartan.

Ive ran a spartan in the front for about 5000 miles..it pops BAD on left turns.I did not use shims. I talked to a guy that said his use to pop bad and he shimed it and it ratchets instead of pops and has no problems now..He said it pops bad because it alittle loose in the carrier.i kept my shims .i need to check.

Don't use the shims! If you do you won't get the center pin in.

Usually if it pops bad you need new springs. And spartan will send them for free. It's a pain but at least they will help you out.

ONLY if it's less than a year old. Otherwise you have to buy a new set and they run around 20 bucks shipped. Didn't help mine. Only the driver side would lock up, passenger just rachets and never pulled, thus why I welded it up.
