It's a bad amp. Don't use it... throw it away. Why do you think it was free?

If you haven't already get to bare metal and add new grounds from the firewall to the head and do the dipstick ground. I installed a 1000w amp and 2 12's awhile ago and sometimes headlights would dim now it's rock solid.

I'm just suggesting that the braided cable ground that attaches to the back of the valve cover be upgraded to a 4 gauge at least and it should be ground down to bare metal where they connect. The dipstick ground is 4ga stock and can be upgraded to 2ga or just cleaned and re attached.

This really helped starting times too I thought I needed a new battery but it just wasn't charging because of poor grounds.

Tell us how it goes when your jeep burns to the ground whenever the thin plastic coating on the amp wire gets rubbed raw and grounds to the body. You clearly have no understanding of the amount of power that is running to that amp. A fuse block and fuse probably cost all of 5 bucks if that.

People weld with car batteries. You ever touched the jumper cables together when your jumping somebody off? Imagine that constant arching right on top of your carpet or interior panels.

He doesn't care.

Having worked in stereo shops for several years I've seen A LOT of people that don't care. 4 gauge power wire ran thru the door jamb, no fuses, wire duct taped to the frame, wire stripped back 6 inches and wrapped around the battery posts... it goes on. I've seen quite a few of those burnt to a crisp.

In fact, recently I rode with a friend on a fire call where this ******* dude's minivan caught on fire in the BK drive thru because he straight wired it to the battery.

I've seen some stuff... but wire duct taped to the frame would take the cake. I dont know why it still surprises me to see people do stuff like that. I mena most people buy their wire from walmart, and the kit COMES WITH A FUSE. Yet I still have to pull amp wires out of cars that have been twisted together and taped to bypass it. Makes no sense.

If it doesnt have a fuse then its NOT "done correctly". And i know plenty of electricians who have no idea what they're doing. Hell you can get a job in the electrician's union with no prior experience making 20 bucks an hour. Just because your an "electrician" doesnt mean you have the sense to put a fuse on a wire.

Must not be much of an electrician if you've never used a fuse before..
