I'm in the process of gathering info on how to redo the interior of my 01 the door pins need to be replaces and the stereo and speakers a long with the heater core.
I also have some leaks and squeaks
What are people using for sound deadening that does not hold moisture
And I'm not a stereo guy but I need 4 new speakers and a head unit
I'm changing everything to LED inside and adding USB ports
I'm also going to steam clean the carpet and rebuild the seats with heated inserts
I use he jeep as a DD and for long trips 500-1000 miles at a stretch and I'd like to be a bit more comfortable
For sound deadening I found a thick half inch material called armaflex that's used in duct work but it's $35-39 for a 4x4 sheet. I was considering it for the doors and roof and sides panels
Then something needs to be laid down under the carpet.
I used the search but came up with some results same with Google .

Thanks for the information despite being in New England the jeep is rust free.
I'll be cleaning and painting the floor when everything comes out
I'm planing on this taking a week or 2 to get everything right.
I'll have to buy a bunch of new fasteners and screws I realized yesterday that I'm missing half of them around the tailgate and I'm sure I'll find more.

I'd like to do a spray product myself because I've already ripped the carpet out due to a water crossing gone bad. I'm not trying to ruin another carpet
Anyone know of a spray product that can be bought in smaller batches? Since my jeep is a daily driver, I'd like to do the spray in sections as I have time to get to it without leaving the seats pulled out for long periods.

After all my research I just don't think you'll get a good effect trying this even lineX won't do much you could experiment with thick rubber roofing material it would be water tight and you could shape it to the contours of the floor.
I finally finished my floor doors and trim it came out great I ran out of time for the roof but I'm rebuilding the headliner adding LED lighting and some other options.

The reason I want to spray on is because I'm hoping to not have to install another carpet. When I get water in the cabin again, I can pull the rubber plugs I plan to put in and let it drain out.
However, I work slow, so it may take more days than a single weekend for me to get the jeep prepped, sprayed, touched up, and cured before I need to use the car to get to work. So I was hoping to tackle the project in sections, hence the desire to buy smaller batches. LizardSkin only has 5 gallon sizes I think.

FatMat for sound deadening. Use behind headliner as well as floor for best results. You don't have to completely cover teh door panels for effectiveness, but it doesn't hurt.
Four your '01, Polk db651's in teh front doors and db521's in the rear soundbar will work nicely. And they are marine rated so they stand up to moisture. Plus they sound really nice. If you want to add a sub, a Dual XPE2700 or Blaupunkt EMA 225 amp will fit under the fornt passenger seat and be plenty to push a single 8" or 10" subwoofer.
If you are going to be replacing your heater core, that will require disassembling most of the dash. Go to Home Depot and buy a few rolls of foam weatherstripping. 3/8" wide by 1/4" thick, and 1/4" wide x 1/8" thick are good choices. Use them on all your panels that rub against each other, and wrap some around cables or wire looms behind the dash that are in contact with other panels.
If your door pins need replacing, and since you live up North, I recommend going to a bike shop and getting some chain lubricant and using that on all your door hinges and pins, and just about any place else you can use it. It's more of a wax, and it stays around a long time.

Thanks for the helpful info on all of this. I ended up getting 4 sheets of ArmaFLex its 1inch thick sticky backed water proof and heat proof foam used inside commercial grade dehumidifier units that I'm useing on the roof under the headliner
I used 8 mill sound deadening on the floors and on the door panels I also used a typed of plastic covered bubble wrap and aluminum tape for the side panels and under the rear seat. What I can say is the combination of all of this has mad a huge difference in the cabin temperature and sound level.
I still have to do the front half of the jeep and the roof.
I'll have to post pictures. I guess it's time to start a build thread this weekend.

Glad you pulled the trigger and tried something new at the same time, OP. I use Arma-flex at work. It lines our copper refrigeration lines. I do hvac work.
So is anyone putting sound deadening in the trunk area? I keep seeing people post pics of the front and back seats, which makes sense, but no trunk shots. I'm planning to do the trunk too. What have you guys done?
