Default snorkel filter housing and dual battery question

I have a plan to build my own snorkel but i will be running dual batteries. i dont want to do a cowl snorkel.

what im looking for is an idea for an air filter housing from a different vehicle that can be used. I like the air filter housing from 1980-87 jaguar XJ6 but its not exactly a car we find in the jy's around here lol. Also unfortunately i cant go wonder around our jy anymore and look for something, its not a u-pull-it anymore.

so any ideas?

You caught my attention. I worked on an old Jaguar once. XJ6 I believe. But can't remember what the airbox looked like. Very interested to see what you come up with.

You could use an inline air filter. I've been using Spectre #9833 for a few months now. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SPE-9833/

I too am very interested in this. I just now finally added the second battery tray on the driver's side. I had to ditch my K&N intake since it took up the space where the new battery sits. Had to attach the cone filter to the old OEM intake hose for now. I've heard of, but am not positive, that some older Dodge trucks have cylindrical shaped air filter boxes, which would work great to contain a cone filter within. Again, I just heard that mentioned on here somewhere, have yet to verify. However, I am seeking the same thing, and do have a "Pick-A-Part" where I'm at, so If I locate what we're seeking, or anything that might work in the limited space, I'll report back.

I set up my airbox like a wrangler, like crossed the engine and went to the side with all the room. If I wanted a snorkel, it'd have to be on the pass side, I don't want to have to look at it while driving. If I go that route again, I may wrap the "intake" with some sort of heat barrier, to avoid any heat transfer from the engine

Went to Pick-A-Part today to do some investigating on viable possibilities for a useable air filter housing for that limited space. Found many that are cylindrical in shape, that would house a cone filter nicely........... but they're way too big. Mainly found them in Ford Explorer's if anyone's looking. Found a rectangular one that will fit based on size, but I'm not sure how people seal these things to keep water out, but yet still have access to open it and remove/change the air filter. Surely that seal isn't water tight, is it? Anyhow, the box that fits nicely in the space, but has yet to be tested, was from a 99 Dodge Caravan. Hopefully someone who's tackling the snorkel idea AND dual battery can figure this out, as I'm not even to the snorkel yet, just concentrating on getting the second battery up and charging/running. Not much help, but maybe some useful info that someone can run with....
