Default Snap Ring Plier Old Style X-Flex Joint

Alright here's the dilemma. I picked up a used 6.5" RC lift with short arms. I'm in the process of rebuilding the x-flex joints with kits I bought from RC. As I said they are the old style so order of assembly is washer bushing spherical ball bushing washer and internal snap ring. I purchased these snap ring pliers and used the largest tips. It worked ok for the upper joint but in trying to do the lowers I sheared two sets of tips. What I'm looking for is information on a set of snap ring pliers that would work or at least what size tips are needed. Any help is appreciated.

Take a center punch and put into hole on an angle, tap a few times to break the snap ring loose. That'll save your pliers.

I usually hit it with WD a few times if their really crusty looking.

Nice! I hit it with PB blaster but didn't think of hitting it with a center punch. I'll do that tho. I got the ring on the second joint out but I can't get the new one in. The tips of the pliers keep slipping out and won't let me compress it far enough to get it in the groove of the joint housing. :|

Take a socket big enough to go over the center but small enough to slip the snap ring over... slightly compress in vise till you can seat the snap ring.

Dont over compress and damage your poly race. Dont forget to fill the cavity with grease.

Ya I kinda guessed that any suggestions on a good pair? I looked through Grainger's and Napa's catalogs but was kinda overwhelmed with the selection and price. There was close to 50 different ones and ranged in price from $20-$250.
