After getting stuck BAD a few times, I was thinking of getting a winch for my XJ. I saw this one in quadratec when I was reading the catalog at work (between oil changes of course ). Does anyone on here have it? It looks pretty good and for a low price. Let me know what you think!

Haven't really had to use it yet, but I like my XRC10. I'd defiantly recommended spending the extra money to get synthetic cable! WORTH IT

It's a good winch I have one setting in the garage waiting to put on and a friend has it on a 95 Cherokee, we have used it a few times, no problems yet.

Synthetic cable = Awesome.

With our vehicles I would recommend he 10000 lb. Ya our jeeps are in the ballpark for the 8000 nut when we get armor suspension bumpers stiffening tires recovery gear a fat @$$ in the passenger seat eating all our camping snacks instead of saying hey.you should probably take a line a little to te left... your gonna slip off that rock and your lower control ARM bracket isn't reinforced... and don't forget the weight of the winch, you're pushing the weight recommendation for the 8000. Plus.its always fun to have the power to winch your buddies.full size out when he gets stuck.

i have the warn 12k on the front of my 92 with bumper made to fit it. its a little heavy on the front but i got the power to pull those buddies out when they get stuck. i have the 8k smitty on the wifes wrangler and it seems to work great so far no issues.

I have the the exact one you are asking about. I havent pushed it to its limits yet but for what ive had to use it for, its done just fine. The synthetic line is AWESOME! Definitely buy the one with the synthetic line. Check out 4WheelParts i got a GREAT price from them. Also look around ive seen some random vendors on craigslist selling for cheap as well.

Whatever you get just make sure you've got the tools to go with it...

...a ****** block for example...

Doubles your winches capacity.

I weighed my Jeep on a scrap scale one time and I was at about 3700 lbs with a 3 inch lift, 31s, two subwoofers in the back, my roof rack, and me inside it.

Odds are with the bumper I'm getting on friday, I'll be at about 3800 lbs lol.

an 8000lb winch should get the job done IMO.

I'm definitely getting some recovery gear to go with the winch before I go wheeling again.

A ****** block is just a pulley system type thing, right?

I haven't owned a smittybuilt but I've seen a friends xrc8 work for a few good pulls then the remote quit. Then his brothers xrc10 make a few good pulls then the mounting bolts break on one side and the winch splits into two pieces. I've also seen another guy use his and have no problems so Im still on the fence about buying one.
