I've been running a JCR skid for a little over a year now. It's worth the money. I liked mine so much, I modified it to work with my frame stiffeners. It's been dragged, smacked, whacked, rammed, and flat out abused and has held up.

I'm using an orange version of this as my gas tank skid hopefully.

I got one free from a friend... I wasn't asking any questions. Hahaha

I second the JCR skids by the way. I don't know from experience but everyone I've ever asked seems to be in agreeance that JCR is one of the best.

Unfortunately that Clayton one seems to require a rear coil conversion kit too. Looks good otherwise.

Doesn't seem like a free aluminum skid (sign) is going to hold up. I've seen a few steel ones destroyed.

Pull and pay. $30 out the door. For BOTH! Zj tank skid, Xj engine skid. I'm in south Florida, all flatland and swamps. But tree stumps can ruin your day.

I am still looking for a set of stock skids.

I don't need a 1/4 inch skid with the wheeling I do either. A 1/8 aluminum skid will work fine for what I do for now. I will be getting a nice tcase skid cause I've heard the stock one is crap. We'll see though.

Waiting to see future post about home brew stop sign skid getting destroyed. .......... You don't realize how much pressure a 3400 lb vehicle can put on an object when if hits it. If 1/8 aluminum was a good idea companies would be making aluminum sliders.

I do know. I had my jeep fall off jack stands and it punctured my gas tank. But what I drive on is not going to do that kind of damage. It's going to be sticks and small rocks that will scrape the bottom of the jeep. I don't have a need for 1/4 inch thick plate steel. Especially when I have 2 extra tanks sitting around and 5 signs. That will be just fine till my jeep becomes a dedicated off road vehicle with a town rig and I put my gas tank inside.

Yeah... basically. I mean there are plenty of logs and stumps too. And when I say small rocks I'm saying less than 200 pounds. Nothing huge to land on around here.

The front xj skids are useless after about 3 inches of lift, They just turn into a water scoop in the event you have to backup in water, or if you decide you need to back down they like to catch rocks too.

I keep thinking at some point I should either get a gas tank skid or relocate it through the floor. My tank has lots of dents in it, but has held up so far. I think I'm pushing my luck though.
