Have read where people are using Dodge
Ram1500 knuckles and stub shafts along
with chevy unit bearings and brakes to run
six lugs. Has anyone here done this? Curious about what ball joints to use.

I'd imagine the Dodge bjs. When you do a WJ knuckle swap on a XJ you use WJ bjs.

I have 9.5" rear end from a Montero Sr that has the 6x5.5 bolt pattern. Would like to have matching bolt patterns with out using spacers.

The Montero 9.5 " is a drop out thirdmember like the ford 9inch.
Also has 31 spline 1.32 diameter axle shafts. 11 inch disc brakes.
Has 4.63 gears and a factory air locker. The large pinion gear and 9.5 ring gear are much stronger than a 8.8 ford. This rear end comes stock inMontero SR. I am really surprised more people don't swap them.

The 4.63 gears are odd. That could be a problem matching to a front axle. You say its stronger than a 8.8. How big a tire do you plan to run?
How wide?

I kinda doubt its stronger then a 8.8 its only 31 splines its good tell 37s maybe just like a 8.8.The odd ball gearing in those would make me pass on it unless you can get a standard gear ratio aftermarket for it.The isuzu rodeo dana 44 98 and newer is something some have used in the past its 6 lug and again factory they are a odd ball gear ratio but after market you can get a 4:11 or 4:56.My 2 cents no way id swap in axles unless 1 tons,Not counting buying the axles themself swaping a 1/2 ton or a 1 ton cost about the same. And the stock dana 30 and chrysler 8.25 can handle 35s beefed up.A 1/2 ton axle which that Montero 9.5 would be counted maybe are good tell 35s maybe 37s in a jeep.3/4 ton axles are good about 38s maybe and 1 tons are good tell 44s.Its best to pick a tire size you want to build to match it and budget comes in to play a lot of times.
