Should i stick with my D30 & C825 or go 1 tons. I'm ordering a lift kit and finishing my chopped XJ over the next 2 months

Way to many variables to say. What is your end goal like tire size and what not. If you only want to run 35s then keep the stock axles. If you have deep pockets and like to fab and and want 37s or larger then go to tons. But with tons comes a lot of other work like plating the unit body and upgrading steering.

All ready ordered parts to stiffen unibody. Steering is getting upgraded once my lift comes in and I want 37s at a min. My Budget isn't horribly small. Between now and May I want to spend 2000 on axles roughly.

I don't think there's a question here. Stock axles won't survive 37's. The only question is budget. Unless you get the axles free. $2,000 probably won't cut it.

I know I've been out the states so off and on over the years that the majority of budget went towards lift, body panels, the essentials to make it street legal. Still need to register it. Plus she isn't my only project either.

So I've decided to stick with 35s, and truss both axles along with gearing and locking them as well.

Good thinkin. Think about getting some chromos, c gussets, and lca skids on the front too. Sounds like you have a nice build on your hands.

Yessir, should have it back on the road in 4-8 weeks. The only thing I have left to source is a tubing for the roll cage.

8.8 would be a good option if you're going with 35's & up too. Don't get me wrong, a well built 8.25 has more than d44 strength. But I know from other builders on here that the 8.8 takes TONS of abuse more than the 8.25
