Greetings Fellow Jeepers. I found a 8.25 rear out of a 96 cherokee with 187K miles for $100. I have a nice and clean 2000 Classic that I want to lift and lock. I thought this might be a nice addition and a cool project for the next month or so.... disc brake conversion, selectable locker, maybe a regear...?

good deal and/or good idea?

it turns out I already have a 29 Spline C8.25 in my XJ! Thanks to everyone in this thread who saved me $100 and gave me the great news along the way!

 

Do you have a D35 currently? I'd say it's a great idea

 

yeah, I think its a D35. as far as I know its a stock 2000.

The 8.25 has a flat lip on the bottom, which you can't see either way in your pic lol

 

 

X2 thats what i usually go by but it looks like it goes down to that flat edge

 

what year was the 29 spline introduced?
I've got a 27 spline that I'll want to sell eventually and just curious what these things go for. minimul rust 120k

I don't think you do cause that looks like a 8.25, which only came on non-ABS Jeeps (someone correct me if I am wrong). I think the 29 spline came to be in '98 (this I am a little less sure of, but I know it was before '99 cause I remember being stoked about mine lol)

 

Dana 35s are junk I'd deff put the 8.25 in it and I live 5 min away from a junk yard where there 100 8.25 and there only 50 bucks

I believe so, yes. Also it should be the 29 spline... so congrats lol
