Shocks
I have busted my brand new Rancho 9000s after only having them for a week. I race my jeep so I'm asking for you alls opinions. What's the best brand of shock I can get that will take a pounding from jumping, landing hard, ruts ect.? Ranchos are out of the question now. So are coil overs they are illegal. Any thoughts?

My guess is the shocks are not the problem. You need some serious bump stops. IF on landing your shocks are bottoming out then no shock will last long. Same with extension, limiting straps may help.
Chances are your new 9000's were slightly longer than your previous shocks.
If I am wrong and you have everything set up perfect. Then well the sky is the limit on suspension.
But I imagine you don't want to go crazy.

If you are racing and your suspension is fine, shocks don't just break, they fade with heat and become useless. if they get hot enough they can damage the seals as well.
I wouldn't call a rancho 9000 a great shock for racing either.

after you fix your suspension and set the proper bump stops and limit straps, you can look into a quality shock. Bilstein 7100s are pretty decent for the money, make sure to get them with a reservoir

I like those. I've been eye balling them. It's hard to set a cherokee suspension up for jumping. And leaning in sharp turns good to. But. I have the front end strapped. I need to get bump stops. Who makes them for Cherokees? Anyone share a link?

You need to bumpstop and limit the suspension so that the shocks don't top out or bottom out. Then put some good shocks in it, like a Bilstein or Fox. Preferably remote resevoir if you're racing it offroad.

this is the most important question after you bump and strap correctly. bilstein 7100s are NOT enough for racing IMHO; you need 9100s minimum.
best shock? thats pretty subjective. the top of the line of the "big three" are the fox 4.4, king pure race 4.5, and bilstein 9300 black hawks.... they are $2000, $2500, and $2300 per shock.

what kind of racing? like stadium truck style thats just dirt with one or two large jumps? dirt riot style stuff thats mostly dirt with some rock sections? KOH-esc huge rock sections with desert in between? terrain will factor a lot in on where you can cut corners to save cost.
a few quick pointers from a guy who has a very, very small amount of racing experience...
your springs are too soft
your air pressure is probably too low
bump and strap NOW
spend as most money as you can on shocks
