Default SHOCK QUESTION

ok so i am in a time crunch and have just realized that when i raised my rear shock mounts to be flush with the axle, my shocks now only have about 1.5" of up travel...not good...

i have 4.5" leafs with 2" shackles and i have moved my shock mounts up about 4"

my question is, since i raised it 4" would stock shock fit and work in as a last resort on the trail.

Measure your extended length and compressed length and see what the stock is........see if it'll fit

If your shocks are almost bottomed out how will a "longer" shock work?

its longer than a stock length shock. i guess i should have said the shocks that are on there now are for a 6.5" lift with normal shock mount locations.

and i wont be able to get the right shck from where ever in the time i need it so a ford ranger shock fully extended is about 28 inches which will work for my application

Yeah I guess as long as they aren't bottoming out.......it'll maybe just limit your drop. I have the same problem.....I should be running piggy backs but somehow ended up with some CJ's off my buddy's........damn $ problem! LOL

Ok so flame me, How about some blocks between the axle and springs, 1/4 wall, 2.2 x 2.5 x 5 lenght HHS Sq Tube works, use 5/16 shcs centered along the bottom and drill a 1/2 dia hole at the top. Will need new 1/2" dia high grade U bolts, I get em at local trans truck sevice center (Delta Spring, Breslau) make up from stock while I wait, $10 each with grade 8 flat wash and 1/2-20 tall nuts. Just a suggestion. Expect fallout for anything associated with lift blocks. Another alternative is online site for the skyjacker shocks and compare the applications charts specs, could select an alternate with less overall lenght. Ive also seen a monroe chart having the info couple years ago.
