Default SHock options..help please

I currently am running the RC 4.5" xseries lift with the basic shocks it comes with...and it rides like a jack hammer. Reflectors in the road feel like the jeep is being punched from beneath. The shocks have about 1000 miles on them.

Will basic bilstein shocks make it ride any smoother. I dont want to spend $150 a shock for any....but I do want something better than what I have on there.

Thanks for the input

Also with that amount of lift the control arm angle is getting pretty steep (assuming you're still short arm). Which is one of the main causes for the rough ride. I also hear from just about everyone that rough country lifts are rougher riding. Which is exactly why I went with another company. I'm planning on ditching my short arms soon in hopes of netting a better ride and better off-road ability. I'm not saying shocks are not to be blamed. Just saying there are other contributing factors.

It is short arms but adjustable control arms.

I was told the long arm is not the best way to go for a lot of road driving. This is my daily driver and I drive the freeway everyday.

I don't know who told you that but they were wrong. If I were you I would looking into getting drop brackets.

Did you buy the lift used?Maybe the shocks dont really have 1000 miles on em or maybe they have been bottomed out and damaged.I had RCs not long ago at 4.5'' and short arms, rode pretty good. How much up travel do you have? the shocks may be too long or too short

I 2nd the BDS shocks. I've heard that zone shocks are the same as BDS and are like 10 bucks cheaper a piece. If you're wheeling or living in an area with sucky roads like i do (southern PA) then your shocks will go out quicker. Don't spend an arm and a leg on new shocks

Lift is brand new from Rough Country as well as the shocks. The up travel is enough to tuck the front tires into the fenders when flexing. And i have taken it on the trails a few times so I know the lift is broken in some too.

Is it true the drop brackets are worse for the unibody?

If you do go the zone route, order through this guy and you'll get a deal, here's a link

https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f10/zo...pension-81692/

I have dealt with him, he's a good guy and is there to help you, I ended up not ordering but nonetheless he will get you what you need for a decent price

Thanks. Ill look into it. I dont want to spend the money on "better" shocks and it ride the same. It litereally feels rough as all can get. Not slushy like shocks are blown and coils are soft...just straight up stiff and hard (hahaha ok my immaturity kicked in and i laughed at that last part)

$99 per shock you can get Bilstein 5150s. It is worth it.

That is what i wanted to know. I see a lot of guys with them and the Bilsteins were very popular on all the trucks when I had a show truck. I just didnt know if shocks will make my ride not like a jackhammer.
