I always loved the twist off shift ***** ljke in my old yoter but my 98 **** on a 5spd doesnt budge . I know its just a preference think and a shiny new **** doesnt really help anything but i would like to set my lil cherokee apart ya know. so how do i get that thing off ? Ive been told to remove the plastic "gear map" and there is a nut under that to remove the ****? also are there any seats that would fit in my xj beside stock . Example dakota seats or such?

 

Shift ****: get a bigger hammer
Seats: WJ seats will fit if you swap the sliders I believe

 

There is supposed to be a jam nut either under the shift pattern (lift up the plastic piece) or on the actual shift rod.

I havent found either of these, and that sucker WILL_NOT_BUDGE

ZJ front will fit, but you have to redrill one of the mounts holes.

Don't know if the manual is the same as the auto.. But on the auto you pull straight up.. HARD.... Be sure NOT to get your face between the shifter and the roof when you do this..

 

Manual shift **** spins off like every other manual transmission shifter ever made lol

Turn it counter-clockwise. If it's never been pulled off before it will take a bit of grunting.
