Default Sanden Compressor OBA

I'm seriously considering turning my stock A/C compressor into an OBA compressor. It seems pretty straight forward. My problem is that my A/C doesn't work. Is there a way that I can tell if my compressor is toast because the Freon normally lubricates it? Thanks.

This.

Cut that wire that goes into the plug and strip it back and touch it to the positive battery terminal.

You should hear like a 'pop'. That's the clutch engaging.

So as long as the clutch engages and the compressor turns I'm OK?

Most likely. The next test would be to plumb it to a tank and see if it will build pressure
