It doesn't hurt anything mine did that before I got new control arms.

Yeah, stock LCA's probably won't hurt anything but they might limit your flex a bit. I installed some RE lower control arms and noticed that where the tube meets the bushing shell it's offset lower than center for that reason.

Yeah, I guess it all depends on what you're going to do. I haven't wheeled my lift yet to feel the difference. I'm used to open diffs and no lift, so I had to have as much droop as possible to keep the tires on the trail. When I put the 34s on this year, I didn't have much up travel, it was all down travel. It's what I'm used to.

I guess what had me spooked was that, on the one side, I had my cousin put the spring in and the upper part of the mount got tweaked a little in the process (full droop, then he put a crow bar on it). I did the other side and figured out a way to get it in easy without prying, but when the jacks came out it didn't drop all that much. Figured I gained 3-4 inches of up travel, but lost as much down.

Good to see some people chime in with their stock experience and to hear there's not a huge worry there. I still want to get some new LCAs anyway for a variety of reasons (stock rims, stronger, more flex with a flex joint, old bushing, the list goes on...)

Yeah I got you. You wont get any ground clearance till you get bigger tires. I was in the same boat as you, (wheeling stock) and then I just put my 4.5*lift on and I was looking at the space between my dif and ground..And I was like "WTF its the same..oh zack you *******. Your tires are the same size. Why would ground clearance change?" haha

3.5 inchs of lift exact. Love the ride. Rides just like a truck. The way it should be.
Did you use the S10 main with the eyelets cut off? I just installed a s10 leaf pack and its way to stiff. I have the XJ main and all the s10 leafs including the s10 main with eyelets cutoff and over load. I need to soften it up a bit.

When y'all use the s10 main do y'all cut the whole eyelet off or can you just cut off part of it so it will partially wrap around the xj main eyelet.

I just cut it off and stuck in it in there. I plan to get aftermarket leaf packs in the future.

Ok I really like the idea of the mil wrap. That's why I was asking. I was thinking of cutting off part of the eyelet if the s10 springs are the same length.

Well Ive had my lift for about a year now and still sitting at 4.5" and I love still. I did notice it has gotten a little softer with the bumps and stuff.

Also, for those of you worried about the drive shaft falling out on the trail at full droop..(correct me if I'm wrong on this idea) but...

Ive had both of the wheels off and Jeep on Jacks on the frame rails but the back doors, and I have had the suspension all the 'drooped' and my drive shaft didnt fall out.

It would seem to me that if you want to buy "new" springs, it would be better to buy the lift springs you want. Leafs are expensive new.

As to JY leafs, as I understand it, each pack is close to the same, but you.may end up with varying results. S10, s15, truck, blazer, jimmy, they are all close to the same. I suppose a person could measure the arch deflection under load before pulling them, and subtract the same measurement from your XJ to get an approximate lift figure? I jist grabbed a set of S-15 springs off a GMC type, cut the eyes, added my XJ top leaf and threw them on. Turned out to level out the 3.5" lift coils I had gotten just right without further tweaking.

The only thing I would do different would be to drill my perches offset to use thr S15 (same as S10l springs straight without modifying to make replacement easier down the road.

Currently I still have my factory shackles, but when I put on my long arm kit I plan to add shackle.lift to level it out and bump stop heavily.
