Rusty's Roll Bar
From let me see your interior cages
I installed this roll bar in my '88 XJ and then transfered it to my '99 XJ. It's 8 years old and the paint still looks new. It was an easier install in the older XJ, but it also had sport car seats and cusom mounts. I put some pipe insulation on it for some padding.
The '99 has adjustable seatbelt hight and I had to shim the adjustment bracket and drill the B pillar to mount the roll bar, but the seat belts are still adjustable. In the '88 it just bolted to the upper seat belt mount.
I had to cut several plasitc interior trim pieces in the '99, but not in the '88.
The '88 had the seat brackets bolted to the floor with some of the same bolts as the roll bar, but not the '99.
I've never tested it! It's no replacement for a full roll cage, but it gives me a little peice of mind knowing that I have a little extra protection.

Thanks for the info, I like how it's a bolt in install and I don't know about living with a fullcage on a regular basis. Not alot of extra room.

i've had the rustys bar for few years now. i think its a great product and still looks as new as the day i got it and i run doorless for months at a time. mine is a 96' and it just bolted right up to the seat belt mount which seemed like a good idea. i doesn't BLOCK access to the back seats but it definitely makes it HARDER to get in back there especially if your a bigger person. here is a picture from the day i put it in when my jeep still had most of its interior in there.

I've been looking at them but I have a 2 door and the concern of getting people in the back is still there. Anyone happen to have a 2 door they have installed this in?
