I'm looking into getting these http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchan...gory_Code=ARMS
for my '87 XJ. Running 3.5" lift with 31x10.5 ATs.
I've never dealt with adjustable CAs before, is adjusting them guesswork, or are there instructions on how to do it?

They're good stuff. I'm running Rustys adjustable uppers and lowers. No guess work needed (as I found out), you can call him with your lift size and they'll tell you what lengths to run.

Might save you a bit of guesswork or having to call them up.
LIFT......LCAs......UCAs
Stock...15.75"....15.00"
2"........15.92"....14.88"
3"........16.09"....14.92"
4"........16.33"....15.03"
The uppers can stay stock while the lowers need to be adjusted out about 1/2" from stock.

If you choose to still go adjustable, adjust the lowers to 16.25", slap them on and call it a day as the caster will be within the limits.

So I get that when you install a lift on the stock arms it pulls the wheels backwards in the wheel well. I'm only planning to lift 3", is this something I should be concerned with?
I was assuming a linear line between them (which will be pretty darn close). So stock is 15.75" and 3.5" lift will be around 16.21". If you really wanted to, you might be able to get that 0.5" just from adjusting the lower arm in the frame side mount as there is some adjustment in there. I've heard you could adjust to up to 0.5" but haven't done that myself.
