Default rubbing on lca's

im rubbing on my lower control arms with 31's, im guessing this is because i used the stock rims, so what do i need to look for to make sure the rims i buy will not make the tires rub.

lift is a 4.5 rc
tires are 31 10.50 15 bfgs mt

thanks

3.5" BS on the wheels will take care of that.

I pciked up some 15x8 wheels with 4" of back spacing and it puts the tires about a half inch outside the fender flare (stock flares). No rubbing lock to lock for me, Im running the same size tire.

you need to pick up some rims with more back spacing, you get can 4 crager soft 8's for about $200 shipped. or check craigslist for some cheap steelies. if you dont have the cash for rims, you can get wheelspacers, so say they dont like them. i run them and i like em, just like anything you just gotta make sure you check them once and a while. or another route you can go is changing out the lca's switching to WJ lca's may give you enough clearance to not rub anymore. but the best bet would to either go with rims, or spacers.

Get some wheels w/4" backspacing, or 3.75. The less backspacing the more the wheels stick out past the fenders.

Or you can get spacers for your current wheels.

Or you can put longer screws to limit your turning radius a bit.

I don't like spacers, but to each his own.

Remove the steering stops, put a couple washers underneath them and re-install.. This spaces the steering stops out about 1/4" and limits the steering enough to stop the rubbing...

Very easy to do if the bolts don't break off when removing. If the steering wheel has been "hit hard" lock to lock they won't come out easy. If they do break off be ready to drill and tap. Be sure to use grade 8 bolts and stack the washers.

If you do look for wheels, you might also want to look into "Diamond Racing Steelies"... They are awesome wheels which aren't really heard of too often. Their styling fits the Cherokee so well too. They will be my next choice of wheel.

You also loose turning radius, right?

I don't personally like that.

jeepxj19, Thanks for that link!

Not enough to make a difference..... Maybe a couple feet of radius...

I'll keep my couple feet.

Then again, I'm building a rig that will climb over anything, so I'll need it.

Couple feet can be the difference between a quick u turn, or riding on the sidewalk
