I stood on my factory rack once and it broke. So that's like 200lbs on one of them.

that's an interesting rack...can you tell me where you got it from or the manufacturer?? I'm looking for something very low profile so i can still park my jeep in the garage...something i can toss a tire onto, maybe a couple of tools when outside the garage

thanx

Sure can its a Olympic "Top Hat" rack setup they are sold at Quadratec. But I had to go direct to Olympic for just the mount.

I do really like the added protection of the outboard rail as well, the mount does have light tabs on it front and rear for extra lighting.

Get some conduit and start welding. Can make a very sturdy rack for small cost. Had this thing on at 70 and it didn't budge. But if you are planning on drilling holes in the roof, have a solid plan for making the holes water tight. Also, be prepared to take the headliner and trim all out.

Instead of threaded inserts I used fender washers and nylocks. She has been racked for three years with no problem, even with loads way way over 150lbs. I've put camping gear, fire wood, scrap metal, and even 5 adults up there with no structural issues. Well up until I rolled her on her side and wrinkled the roof a bit... But the rack is there!
that's awfully impressive.

I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on a Nates4x4 rack. For the price I don't think you can beat it especially with an additional 2 gutter mounts. 6 points to spread any weight out and light tabs front/rear.
