Default Roof Rack Security Questions

Previosuly had Thule gutter mount feet/rails with RAGE roof rack that was stolen.

Through a friend I got a killer deal on a Defender Rack welded one piece roof rack, too good to pass up. On the way to me is the Defender Rack gutter mounts HDS-6.

How does everyone here secure their roof rack and mounts?

Thinking of using small U locks to secure the rack to the mounts. Now not sure how to secure the mounts to the vehicle though. Was thinking about after tightening the gutter mounts down welding the two plates together so that even if they were loosened the weld would keep the mount pinched onto the gutter.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Weld the nuts or fix the plates like you were talking. I weld all the nuts(winch, tire carrier, lights, ect.) I can because thieves are going to steal it if they can.

I've considered using a bike lock chain. That would be a cheap and easy way secure it.

Run an extension cord out to your jeep and discretely wire the hot wire to your roof rack...lol!

Yeah, prolly best just to tack weld the hardware.

Sounds like my thoughts of locks and welding were right on track. Was just wondering if anybody else had something I didn't think of. Thanks for all the input guys!

That or a big *** dog in the yard. My dog wont go on the sideway but the driveway is hers, and anyone that comes on my property is bound to get a face full of teeth.

That is unless shes met you before then she'll just lick you and sniff your feet until you trip over her.

Eh, just get a lion to use the roof rack as its den...maybe feed it once a week or so...
