I am looking for a rack to carry my spare 35" tire on. Will one that mounts to the factory rails be ok for that or should I get one that has the gutter mounts?

I think I am going to go with one of these. https://kevinsoffroad.com/collection...d-tire-carrier
If that mounts to the factory rails like it seems to, I would not use it for a 35"spare.

I would hate to overhead press a 35" spare on a trail. I mean sounds like some crossfit crap to me! Rather conventional lift.

I'd go with a basket style roof rack and mount the wheel in it. That will be significantly more sturdy and will give you more flexibility to carry other things as well as it provides a platform for auxiliary lighting.
