If it sounds like a rod knock it could be a broken piston skirt , but I would like to hear it , no mater what it is you still will need to take your engine apart to see what it is and fix it .It laso could be a broken flywheel .

We have no frickin clue!!!
Could be as simple as loose flexplate bolts, which do NOT require engine disassembly.
Let's stop firing the "advice cannon" until we know more.

As Cruiser54 said...check your flexplate bolts............it happened to me just 3 months ago
Sounded like a rod knock, but yet it didn't......ended up paying someone to check & tighten them fro me, as I was physically unable to do it at the time due to my knee going out just a few weeks before.
They were more worried about my rear axle till I explained how a locker works and why it makes a clicking noise when turning sharp.

And here's how. No engine disassembly required. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/ho...ocking-125547/
