Default Rockrail and stiffener

Rockrail

Cross member
Frame stiffener added and rockrail added. Rail came with two legs, added two more plus made pinchseam attachment full length from A to C pillar.

lots of bolts to the pinch seam i I did 15 bolts per side on the pinch seam.

Rails

Set up for tack weld of the legs

Pulling seam straight

Stiffeners modified and weld thru primer coated. Nuts added for extra crossmember bolts.

Extension added to stiffener for my drop bracket support to mount to.

the orange paint on stiffener is two part DP primer, three coats. inside of frame, and between frame and stiffener was sprayed after welding with six aerosol cans of rustoleum red primer using various spray straws through drain holes, bolt holes etc.... Prior to welding, zinc weld thru primer in all sandwiched part areas.

rails also got the DP primer, followed by Rustoleum hammer tone black aerosol, three coats of each. the black hammer tone has a fine metallic flake, i like it. The hammer tone helped hide the primer brush marks.

The 16 each side 3/8 fine bolts hold each rail to the frame. all grade 8, taped into the frame. the pinch seam bolts are 1/4-20 also grade 8. the pinch seam is clamped with steel plates on the inside to the now full length pinch seam mount on the rail. The only spots not clamped are the four or five drain slots on each seam. The feet on the legs have gussets on top side.

drain holes added thru the drop bracket mount to align with stock drains. Stiffener modified to give large support foot print for the drop bracket mount, this done by adding an extension plate on the bottom in front to the stiffener. Stiffener fitted before tack welding with the drop bracket mount installed to assure good square fitting ( unlike it was before)

four added cross member bolts, now eight total. It wont go anywhere.

I guess I need front stiffeners now, then beef of my front bumper mounting.

used three grade 8 1/4-20 bolts thru the seam, holes in seam are a matched drilled fit with the 3/16" plate (which the chain is hooked to) with a backing plate behind, so seam is sandwhiched , tightened the bolts to max, then pulled, the holes in the seam never stretched, it took a lot of force on that jack. pulled the seam better than I expected.
