Default Rocker idea

I got to thinking earlier today, why don't I just use a chunk of 3/8x6" flat bar instead of the traditional 2x6. I know by itself the 2x6 is more ridgid, but if it's getting tied into the frame braces anyway, then will it really be a problem? I figure it'll gain about 1.5" of clearance over the 2x6...

Thoughts?

Right now I'm running no rockers the clearance is great! Actually I just cut of the remains of my rusted out rocker and am getting ready to install some 20 guage panels my brother fabbed for me. But would be interested to see how your rockers came out if you did this, I would be worried about strength but at 3/8th I think that problem goes away. I say go for it!

The deflection of 3/8 compared to 3/16 tube is pretty surprising, tube adds a lot of strength. You might run into deflections issues with it, but I would be more concerned with the leverage arm it leads to and tying them successfully into the pinch seam and frame. You will need to cut a lot more out of the pinch seam if you want to run unbent tubes.

I think I'll just have to see if we have a chunk at work tomorrow that I can hold up in the spot I already chopped the rocker/door to see how I can tie it in.
